Come and have a seat

Speaking of random. Yes, this is a couch in a desert. We found this at an artist's studio near Death Valley NP. I love this picture!

While taking it I thought of Jesus saying, "Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Mt. 11:28). Often we experience desert-like conditions in our lives. These come as a result of our busy schedules. Sometimes they come in a crisis or a loss.

Jesus invites us to recognize Him as the true source of refreshment: Come to Me. Whenever I reflect upon my desert-periods, I recognize that I had been careless in my relationship with Him. My prayer-less-ness usually is the cause.

Jesus gives us these desert conditions in order to offer us a place to sit and rest. The couch in the desert is an invitation to us come and have a seat ...to spend some time with Him and find rest. After I've sat a while, everything in life seems much more manageable.
